Attunement
The Story
Since the 2000s, the streaming industry has massively changed how people consume music. Platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music present users with curated playlists that are listenable and convenient to keep them listening at all times. This has shifted the role music plays in peoples lives, being diminished to nothing more than white noise as they go about their business.
The Opportunity
Despite these massive shifts in the music industry, the longevity of physical formats like Vinyls and CDs prove that many people crave a deeper connection with what they listen to. Being able to experience music in an offline environment with multiple senses allows it to create more of a positive impact for anyone who hears it. Attunement was conceptualized around this idea, to push back against the streaming agenda and bring more individuals closer to the music that they love.
The Solution
Attunement is a card deck centered around musical connection and self-discovery. Each card has prompts that explore different ways of feeling sounds, which can be pulled individually or as a group. Users are instructed to put on some music and then explore the deck, engaging with the songs they are hearing in real time. These exercises aim to make the listening experience more meaningful.
